It’s the talk of the town, everyone is talking about it and even falling prey to it. All so called experts and information security enthusiasts have shifted their focus and resume highlight point to ransomware. It’s money for the creator and also for the publisizers in form of speakers and solutions provider.
Every what’s app or telegram or Facebook or LinkedIn or any other social media group has something to offer other than a concrete solution. Most of the LEAs and Forensic investigators have met a dead end.
Now what…..
As of now there is no silver bullet solution to this. There are decryptors for few factors or ransomware but most of them dont have it. Few creators also don’t have solutions to few of their ransomware.
Best solution is go back to basics. Information Security tells us to backup our information. Do is regularly and religiously.
If you information is very critical than pay for not backing up your data. But no one can assure you that you will get back your original data. If you get it back please again go back to basics. Start a fresh because you don’t know if the ransomware has kept itself persistent on your machine.
Most of my police friends are being asked by victicms that do something and get their data back….I would like to tell the victims if you would have followed proper Cyber hygiene this day would not have come.
