In an average, almost every single person use multiple digital devices ranging from laptop, pc, tablet, smartphones, wifi, router etc. And everyone at least does secure their devices with passwords. (other than 1234 or ABC). But that’s is not enough. Here in this peace I am trying to include some basics beyond securing your devices with passwords. (of course a good password).
So, first of all secure your most important friend which helps you to connect to internet. Your wifi.
Yes, this small friend of yours cover all your details of logged in devices, IP addresses, passwords so please be more caring towards it. Keep your wifi in the middle of the house so there only little range available outside your house. Remember to change the manufactured password of your wifi because it is easily available on the internet. Also protect the network using WPA2 encryption. And please have a strong password.
Now, when your connected to internet after securing your wifi next comes your accounts on different sites, facebook, google, Instagram etc. KINDLY avoid using same password for all your accounts and have STRONG PASSWORD. NO need to save your password on your android phones.
Avoid saving your password in your phone even if it is password protected.
On SOCIAL networking sites. Hey! there is no need for you to add everyone. Keep your circle and friend list filtered. Also, timely analyse your accounts. Yes, it is very important for you to keep a look at your activity logs, timely change your passwords, understand the new updates.
Talk of data Security!
-Make it a rule no one is as important as your password. Never share password with anyone. If for some reason, you have shared the password. Change it as soon as the work is done.
Commercial calls from banks and companies. Guys understand this! No legitimate company ask the password of your accounts and specially your bank. Never Ever!
: make use of it. Open your accounts in incognito mode if you are using public computer or infact wifi. It’s better to use incognito mode in public networks at airports, railways station etc.
-Mobile Application: Carefully read the permission before installing apps. Read all those boxes before pressing I agree button. Sometimes the apps which don’t even require your contact details ask for your contact access. Kindly see to such things.
-Secure Website: while using any website for sensitive data and personal banking look for 2 things little lock on the left of the website address and an ‘https:’ instead of ‘http:’ before you enter your banking details.
– the Back up : back up always act like a best friend who backs you in any critical situation. Sometimes, despite of all the precautions attack can happen. To at least reduce the lose have back up for your important data. Infact, I advise you to take periodical back up.
